A Midlands dust-up lands at the Civic Hall on Saturday night as Wolverhampton’s Conah Walker meets Smethwick’s Sam Eggington in a fight that promises chaos.
Walker (17-3-1, 8 KOs) is on a roll.
He’s been running through domestic rivals, the latest scalp coming in dramatic fashion as he stopped hot prospect Pat McCormack in the final round back in December.
His last defeat came against Lewis Crocker, now the IBF welterweight champion, back in June 2024. Plenty at ringside felt Walker had nicked it that night, but the cards didn’t fall his way.
Since then, he’s beaten former European and British champion Lewis Ritson, stopped Harry Scarff in the 11th after being behind on the cards, knocked out Liam Taylor in seven, and then derailed McCormack.

Keep winning, and a Crocker rematch for the IBF title feels like the obvious route. Whether it lands or not is out of his hands. What he can control is nights like this.
A home crowd. A known crowd pleaser in the opposite corner and a style match-up that suits him down to the ground.
Eggington (36-9, 20 KOs) can box when he chooses to, but more often than not, he gets dragged into a tear-up. That’s Walker’s bread and butter.
‘Sam’s a household name. He’s a beast, isn’t he.’ Walker explained on Matchroom Boxing’s You Tube channel.
‘He’s all action, similar to me.
‘It’s a war every time he fights and people want to see that. People want to see blood and guts and putting it all on the line. That’s why this fight sells.’
Eggington has torn up enough scripts over the years to ever rule him out.
On a weekend stacked with big fights, this one could quietly steal the show.
