OKTAGON 89 will feature a double-title clash, pitting two ex-UFC fighters with everything to prove.
Brazil’s Igor Severino entered his UFC debut in 2024 with plenty of hype: an undefeated record, a respected team at Chute Boxe, and an entertaining fighting style. That momentum came to an abrupt halt when he bit his opponent, Andre Lima, resulting in a disqualification and his removal from the UFC.
Severino was handed a second chance in MMA by OKTAGON, the leader in European MMA, and “The Hannibal” fit right in, notching two wins and capturing the bantamweight throne. Now, he defends that belt for the first time against fellow UFC cast-off Zhalgas Zumagulov.
Lima & Zumagulov have everything to prove in OKMMA 89 headliner
Zumagulov (19-9) went 1-6 in the UFC, dropping three split decisions along the way. Many fans thought he’d been unlucky in the promotion, putting up solid performances against future top contenders Charles Johnson and Amir Albazi, as well as a future champion, Joshua Van.
‘Zhako’ found his footing after being released in 2023, picking up six-straight victories, capturing and defending the OKMMA flyweight championship along the way. He’ll fight Severino for double-champ bragging rights in OKMMA.
“This eagerly anticipated battle, one of the highest quality contests in promotional history, takes place at OKTAGON 89 on Saturday, June 6, during the Slovakian leg of our ten-year anniversary celebrations,” OKTAGON MMA wrote in their press release.

- Mark Bartl (16-16) vs. Jozef Wittner (16-6); welter
- Ayton De Paepe (14-6) vs. Marco Novak (7-1); feather
