Pedro Munhoz has been removed from the UFC roster, following over 500 days of inactivity.
‘The Young Punisher’ was one of the bantamweight’s mainstay fighters, holding a bang-even 10-10 2NC record, and never tasted defeat by submission or knockout in his 32 professional fights.
He leaves the UFC roster, coming up on two years after his last defeat against Aiemann Zahabi, the third-leg of a three-fight losing streak. UFC Roster News revealed the update on April 21.
Pedro Munhoz removed from UFC roster
Munhoz maintained a granite chin to the end of his UFC stint, fighting heavy hitters like Sean O’Malley and Marlon Vera, while handing tough contests to some legends like Dominick Cruz, Jose Aldo, and Frankie Edgar.
His top win was a knockout over Cody Garbrandt in 2019, handing ‘No Love’ a third straight defeat after his duology with TJ Dillashaw.
There’s every chance Munhoz will renegotiate his UFC contract, but it’s unlikely given his inactivity and the UFC’s penchant for young, inexperienced finishers.
Colby Covington snubbed among the latest UFC roster updates
As of Tuesday, April 21, former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Colby Covington has finally been removed from the UFC rankings. ‘Chaos’ had a number next to his name for nearly a decade, first debuting in the top-15 in 2017.
Fans thought Covington should have been removed a long time ago, since the controversial American wrestler had fought just three times since 2021, losing two, with one win against then #6 Jorge Masvidal. Eventually, even a namesake can expire in the UFC ranks.
