Aline Pereira, sister of UFC’s ‘Poatan’ Alex Pereira, gets her shot at the UFC roster on Tuesday night, October 13th, in Week 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series.

She’ll fight for a UFC contract against 21-year-old fighting phenom Smilla Sundell.

Aline Pereira set for DWCS debut

The little-known Pereira sister is a mirror image of her brother, three years younger at 36, and six inches shorter. She’s fought five times in MMA, winning three, and cut her teeth in kickboxing with a 6-2 record. She hasn’t yet seen a finish in MMA, but she scored a TKO by knockdown in kickboxing.

Shades of her brother’s left hook showed up in her three Karate Combat fights, where she scored two knockouts on her way to winning the inaugural women’s flyweight championship.

Who is Smilla Sundell? ‘The Hurricane’ looking to upset Pereira’s big chance

DWCS might be using Pereira as a stepping stone for the night’s real dark horse. Sundell is 2-0 in MMA, with both finishes, and she’s the youngest woman to win a Muay Thai title, going undefeated in the shark tank that is ONE Championship Muay Thai before she’d even turned 18.

Her 36-5-1 kickboxing record encompasses 23 knockouts, several world titles, and three* defences of her ONE belt. *Technically two, since she missed weight for the third win.

And all this by 21 for Sundell. On the other hand, at 36, Pereira has relatively little fighting experience for her age. Sundell also matches her in height and reach, which the Pereiras usually don’t have to deal with in the cage.

But Alex was only 2-1 when he made his UFC debut in 2021, so his sister has hope, especially given the shockingly shallow depth of the UFC’s women’s bantamweight division. This win could easily put either woman in line for a title shot in one or two more fights.
